De provincie Zuid-Holland en de gemeente Rotterdam subsidiëren vier industriële groene projecten met 6,2 miljoen euro. InnovationQuarter begeleidde de projecten naar de financiering toe.

De subsidie is afkomstig uit de Kansen voor West III-regeling en ondersteunt projecten die een bijdrage leveren aan verduurzaming en circulariteit. De vier projecten die subsidie ontvangen, zijn: Hydrocat Technology (brandstof uit gemengd afval), Verturo (cellulose uit reststromen van houtproductie), Asbeter (veilig verwerken van asbest tot grondstoffen voor de verf- en cementindustrie) en CMT (circulaire scheepsontmanteling Rotterdam).

Groene projecten

“De industrie moet verduurzamen”, stelt gedeputeerde Jeannette Baljeu. “Dit brengt grote uitdagingen met zich mee aan de kant van productie en materialen. Met Kansen voor West zetten we in op de transitie naar een duurzame en circulaire industrie. We geven een impuls aan bedrijven die werken aan de economie van de toekomst en daarmee ook bijdragen aan de ontwikkeling van nieuwe, duurzame werkgelegenheid. Deze projecten zijn hier een mooi voorbeeld van.”

Nieuwe initiatieven

Wethouder Robert Simons (haven, economie, horeca en bestuur) over de regeling: “Goed dat we met Kansen voor West deze bedrijven steunen. Rotterdam wil graag een schone vernieuwende economie en haven. Nieuwe initiatieven die daaraan bijdragen juich ik van harte toe.” Bij de selectie van de projecten lieten de gemeente en provincie zich adviseren door het Havenbedrijf Rotterdam en InnovationQuarter.

Grant for four green projects

The province of Zuid-Holland and the municipality of Rotterdam are subsidising four industrial green projects with EUR 6.2 million. InnovationQuarter guided the projects towards funding.

The subsidy comes from the Kansen voor West III scheme and supports projects that contribute to sustainability and circularity. The four projects receiving the grant are: Hydrocat Technology (fuel from mixed waste), Verturo (cellulose from waste streams from wood production), Asbeter (safe processing of asbestos into raw materials for the paint and cement industry) and CMT (circular ship dismantling Rotterdam).

More sustainable

“The industry needs to become more sustainable,” argues Deputy Jeannette Baljeu. “This brings major challenges. On the side of production and materials. With Opportunities for West, we are focusing on the transition to a sustainable and circular industry. We give an impetus to companies working on the economy of the future and thus also contribute to the development of new, sustainable jobs. These projects are a great example of this.”
