Nobian heeft van EcoVadis een platina rating ontvangen. Het is de eerste keer dat de producent van zout, chemicaliën en energie zich door deze beoordelaar laat doorlichten op zijn duurzaamheidsprestaties.

EcoVadis beoordeelt de duurzaamheidsprestaties van bedrijven. Het heeft wereldwijd ongeveer 90.000 bedrijven doorgelicht. Het doet dit op de thema’s milieu, arbeid en mensenrechten, ethiek en duurzaam inkopen.

Duurzaamheidscertificaat

Nobian ontving op elk van deze thema’s mooie scores. Het bedrijf wil in 2040 CO2-neutraal zijn en volledig van hernieuwbare energie gebruikmaken. Uiteindelijk kwam een platina rating uit de bus. Slechts 1 procent van alle door EcoVadis beoordeelde bedrijven kreeg een dergelijke rating. 

Ondergrondse opslag

Volgens Michael Koenig, ceo bij Nobian, onderstreept de rating de toewijding aan duurzaamheid binnen het bedrijf. “Dit is een fantastische prestatie en onderdeel van de reis om een van de meest duurzame chemiebedrijven in Europa te worden. Voor de toekomst ligt onze focus op het verder verduurzamen van onze bedrijfsvoering. Dit houdt ook in dat we sterk inzetten op het benutten van zakelijke kansen op het gebied van duurzaamheid, bijvoorbeeld de ondergrondse opslag van waterstof of de productie van lithiumhydroxide voor batterijen.”

Nobian honoured with sustainability certificate rating

Nobian has received a platinum rating from EcoVadis. It is the first time that the producer of salt, chemicals and energy has had its sustainability performance assessed by this evaluator.

EcoVadis assesses the sustainability performance of companies. It has screened approximately 90,000 companies worldwide. It does this on the themes of environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.

Platinum rating

Nobian received good scores on each of these themes. The company wants to be CO2 neutral by 2040 and use only renewable energy. In the end, it received a platinum rating. Only one percent of all companies assessed by EcoVadis received such a rating.

Underground storage

According to Michael Koenig, CEO at Nobian, the rating underlines the company’s commitment to sustainability. “This is a fantastic achievement and part of the journey to become one of the most sustainable chemical companies in Europe. For the future, our focus is on making our business operations more sustainable. This includes a strong commitment to exploiting business opportunities in the area of sustainability, for example the underground storage of hydrogen or the production of lithium hydroxide for batteries.”
