Neste maakt in de Rotterdamse raffinaderij producten als hernieuwbare diesel, duurzame vliegtuigbrandstof en hernieuwbare grondstoffen voor de productie van polymeren en chemicaliën. Nu heeft de raffinaderij een capaciteit van 1,4 miljoen ton per jaar. 

Verdubbeling productiecapaciteit

Dankzij een investering van 1,9 miljard euro zal de productiecapaciteit met 1,3 miljoen ton worden vergroot. Daarmee zal de totale productiecapaciteit op 2,7 miljoen ton uitkomen. Hiervan is 1,2 miljoen ton aan productie van SAF (duurzame vliegtuigbrandstof). De nieuwe productielijn is volgens Neste zowel energie-efficiënt als flexibel in het verwerken van verschillende soorten materialen.

Opstarten

Neste wil de nieuwe productiefaciliteiten in de eerste helft van 2026 opstarten. Tegen het eind van dat jaar is Neste dan wereldwijd goed voor de productie van 6,8 miljoen ton aan hernieuwbare producten.

Neste doubles refinery production capacity

Neste announces that it will almost double the production capacity of its refinery in Rotterdam. It is investing EUR 1.9 billion in this expansion.

At its Rotterdam refinery, Neste produces products such as renewable diesel, sustainable aviation fuel and renewable raw materials for the production of polymers and chemicals. The refinery now has a capacity of 1.4 million tonnes per year.

Flexible

Thanks to a EUR 1.9 billion investment, production capacity will be increased by 1.3 million tonnes. This will bring the total production capacity to 2.7 million tonnes. Of this, 1.2 million tonnes is for the production of SAF (sustainable aviation fuel). According to Neste, the new production line is both energy-efficient and flexible in processing different types of materials.

Start-up

Neste aims to start up the new production facilities in the first half of 2026. By the end of that year, Neste will then account for the production of 6.8 million tonnes of renewable products worldwide.
