De aan- en afvoer van goederen in Nederlandse zeehavens is door de coronacrisis in 2020 met 8,2 procent gedaald tot bijna 558 miljoen ton. Vooral de aanvoer van droge en natte bulk nam af, zoals van steenkool (-34,7 procent), ertsen (-22,1 procent), aardolieproducten (-14,7 procent), andere vloeibare bulkproducten (-14,0 procent) en ruwe aardolie (-8,4 procent).

Natte en droge bulk

De vraag naar steenkool en ertsen zakte in door de sterk verminderde staalproductie in Duitsland, aldus het CBS. De afname van de aanvoer van nattebulkproducten valt te verklaren doordat er tijdens de coronacrisis minder werd gevlogen en gereden. 

Containers

De aan- en afvoer van containers steeg in 2020 met 0,4 procent naar 134 miljoen ton. De afvoer van containers steeg met 1,5 procent, terwijl de aanvoer iets daalde. Gemeten in TEU daalde de overslag van containers in de haven van Rotterdam met 3,1 procent. In de Rotterdamse haven wordt 98 procent van alle containers in Nederland overgeslagen.

The supply of liquid and dry bulk to Dutch seaports declined last year. This was reported by the CBS.

The incoming and outgoing volume of goods in Dutch seaports decreased by 8.2 percent to almost 558 million tons, due to the corona crisis. Especially the supply of dry and wet bulk decreased, such as coal (-34.7 percent), ores (-22.1 percent), petroleum products (-14.7 percent), other liquid bulk products (-14.0 percent) and crude oil (-8.4 percent).

Coal and ores

The demand for coal and ores collapsed due to the strongly reduced steel production in Germany, according to the CBS. The decrease in the supply of wet bulk products can be explained by the fact that there was less flying and driving during the corona crisis.

Containers

The incoming and outgoing volume of containers increased by 0.4 percent to 134 million tons. The outbound of containers increased by 1.5 per cent, while the supply decreased slightly. Measured in TEUs, the transhipment of containers in the port of Rotterdam decreased by 3.1 percent. In the port of Rotterdam, 98 percent of all containers in the Netherlands are transhipped.
