LyondellBasell heeft een belangrijke duurzaamheidscertificering bemachtigd voor haar polymerenfabrieken in Europa. Willemien Terpstra van het bedrijf zegt er blij mee te zijn.

Het gaat om de Internatonal Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) Plus certification, die LyondellBasell heeft weten te verkrijgen. De certificering geldt voor de Europese polymerenfabrieken van het bedrijf en de kraker in Wesseling (D). 

Duurzaamheidscertificering

De ISCC PLUS-certificering geldt voor gerecyclede of duurzame materialen en de traceerbaarheid ervan in de keten. Er wordt gemeten hoeveel gerecycled en duurzaam materiaal in de polymeren worden verwerkt, wat in een duurzaamheidsverklaring wordt vermeld.

Mijlpaal

“Vorig jaar kondigden wij aan om vanaf 2030 jaarlijks twee miljoen ton groene polymeren te produceren”, zegt Richard Loudeix van LyondellBasell. “De certificering is een nieuwe mijlpaal om een toonaangevende producent te worden van gerecyclede en ‘renewable-based’ polymeren.”

Bevestiging

Willemien Terpstra van LyondellBasell voegt eraan toe: “de ISCC PLUS-certificering is een bewezen middel om compliance te verzekeren van te traceren duurzaamheidsverplichtingen. LyondellBasell secures sustainability certification

LyondellBasell has secured an important sustainability certification for its polymer plants in Europe. Willemien Terpstra of the company says she is pleased.

It concerns the Internatonal Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) Plus certification, which LyondellBasell has managed to obtain. The certification applies to the company’s European polymer plants and its cracker in Wesseling, Germany. 

Traceability

The ISCC PLUS certification applies to recycled or sustainable materials and their traceability in the chain. The amount of recycled and sustainable material used in the polymers is measured and stated in a sustainability statement.

‘Another milestone’

“Last year we announced our goal to produce and market two million metric tons of recycled and renewable-based polymers annually by 2030”, said Richard Loudeix of LyondellBasell. “The certification is another milestone on our path to becoming an industry leader in the production and marketing of recycled and renewable-based polymers.”

Willemien Terpstra of LyondellBasell added: “The ISCC PLUS certification is a proven tool to verify compliance with sustainability and traceability requirements. This third-party certification is a confirmation of the concrete actions we are taking in support of a circular economy.”
