Vorige week heeft het nieuwe Rotterdamse college van B&W haar coalitieakkoord gepresenteerd. Deltalinqs zegt dat de ambitie en urgentie hierin hoger kunnen.

De ondernemersvereniging laat weten het nieuwe coalitieakkoord te verwelkomen. Dat het college zich wil richten op uitvoeren in plaats van het maken van plannen, spreekt Deltalinqs aan. Alle steun die bedrijven in de Rotterdamse haven kunnen krijgen is welkom bij het realiseren van de energie- en grondstoffentransitie, aldus Deltalinqs.

Walstroom

Op het gebied van havenontwikkeling, transitievraagstukken en de arbeidsmarkt zouden de ambities hoger kunnen, vindt Deltalinqs. Zo wordt er bijvoorbeeld alleen gesproken over walstroom voor de binnenvaart, terwijl walstroom voor de zeevaart stikstofemissies en geluidsoverlast vermindert.

Brede aanpak college

Deltalinqs zegt ook urgentie te missen bij het oplossen van de krapte op de arbeidsmarkt. “De beschikbaarheid van voldoende gekwalificeerd personeel is bepalend voor het concurrentievermogen van de Rotterdamse haven en het realiseren van de klimaatambities”, aldus Deltalinqs-voorzitter Victor van der Chijs. “De haven vraagt op het gebied van arbeidsmarkt om een brede aanpak waarin bedrijven, onderwijs en gemeente ieder hun rol pakken. Het is voor de haven cruciaal dat het nieuwe college zich de komende jaren hiervoor met het onderwijs en bedrijfsleven extra inzet om tot effectieve oplossingen te komen.”

Deltalinqs stelt op korte termijn met het nieuwe college in gesprek te willen over hoe de ‘grote opgaven van de Rotterdamse haven’ kunnen worden aangepakt.

Deltalinqs believes that ambitions could be higher in the field of port development, transition issues and the labour market. For example, there is only talk of shore-based power for inland navigation, while shore-based power for maritime navigation reduces nitrogen emissions and noise pollution.

Labour market

Deltalinqs also says it lacks urgency when it comes to solving the shortage on the labour market. “The availability of sufficient qualified personnel is decisive for the competitiveness of the Port of Rotterdam and for achieving the climate ambitions”, says Deltalinqs chairman Victor van der Chijs. “The port requires a broad approach to the labour market in which businesses, education and the municipality each play their part. It is crucial for the port that the new municipal executive committee makes an extra effort in the coming years together with the education sector and the business community to come up with effective solutions.”

Deltalinqs stated that it would like to enter into discussions with the new municipal executive committee in the near future about how the ‘major challenges facing the port of Rotterdam’ can be tackled.
