De realisatie van het project Skyline bij Shell Moerdijk vordert. Begin deze maand werd het fan platform op zijn plek geplaatst.

Het betrof het bovenste deel van de fornuizen 5 en 6 – dat ook wel ‘fan platform’ heet – dat door een grote ringkraan van Mammoet werd opgetild en precies bovenop de kraakinstallatie werd geplaatst. Op het fan platform staan ‘flue gas fans’, de rookgasventilatoren. 

Puzzelstuk

De lift duurde twee uur. Het was een klus die volgens Shell alleen slaagt als alles correct en binnen de toleranties wordt uitgevoerd. Daarmee staat ‘alweer een Skyline-puzzelstuk op de juiste plek’, aldus Shell. Het bedrijf dankt de contractors Ballast Nedam, BIS, Calderys, DSV, Fluor, G4S, Lengkeek, Mammoet, MOB, Newes, Spie, Meuva, TSA en T.EN.

Skyline

De fornuizen 5 en 6 vormen het eerste paar dat binnen het project worden omgebouwd. Shell vervangt in totaal zestien oude fornuizen door acht nieuwe. Dit levert voordelen op het gebied van energieverbruik en CO2-uitstoot op.

Skyline construction progresses

The realisation of the Skyline project at Shell Moerdijk is progressing. At the beginning of this month, the fan platform was placed in place.

This was the upper part of cookers 5 and 6 – also known as the ‘fan platform’ – which was lifted by a large Mammoet ring crane and placed exactly on top of the cracker. The fan platform houses ‘flue gas fans’.

Puzzle

The lift took two hours. It was a job that Shell says will only succeed if everything is done correctly and within tolerances. This puts ‘yet another Skyline puzzle piece in the right place’, Shell said. The company thanks contractors Ballast Nedam, BIS, Calderys, DSV, Fluor, G4S, Lengkeek, Mammoet, MOB, Newes, Spie, Meuva, TSA and T.EN.

Project

Cookers 5 and 6 are the first pair to be converted within the project. Shell is replacing a total of 16 old cookers with eight new ones. This will bring benefits in terms of energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
