Air Products wants to build ammonia terminal in Hamburg

Air Products has announced that it wants to build an ammonia terminal in Hamburg. It is collaborating with Oiltanking Deutschland for this purpose.

Mabanaft – the parent company of Oiltanking Deutschland – and Air Products have signed an agreement to this effect. Both companies say they see the development of infrastructure for importing green ammonia as an important step.

Hydrogen

The ammonia terminal, which will be operational in 2026, will be built at Oiltanking’s site in the port of Hamburg. The imported ammonia comes from Air Products’ production sites, as well as from third parties. At the ammonia terminal, the ammonia will be converted to hydrogen, which will be distributed to customers in northern Germany.

Rotterdam

Earlier this year, Air Products announced that it will also invest heavily in Rotterdam. It is working on the construction of a hydrogen refuelling station, will expand its green hydrogen production capacity and plans to build a hydrogen import terminal with Gunvor.
