Groenewaterstoftankstation in Rotterdam
Air Products gaat in Rotterdam een eerste groenewaterstoftankstation beleveren en exploiteren. Het station richt zich op zwaar wegtransport.
Air Products werkt in het project ‘Clean Hydrogen and Road Transport Project’ samen met TNO en Schenk Tanktransport. Mede dankzij subsidie van de regeling DKTI transport (Demonstratieregeling Klimaattechnologieen en -innovaties in Transport) van het Ministerie van Infrastructuur en Waterstaat gaat er in 2023 een openbaar waterstoftankstation worden gebouwd. Ook het Havenbedrijf Rotterdam is bij het project betrokken.
Afnemers groenewaterstoftankstation
Drie emissievrije vrachtwagens van Air Products en Schenk zullen in eerste instantie afnemer van het tankstation zijn. Daarnaast wordt er gemikt op ‘early adopters’ in het Rotterdamse havengebied. Air Products zal de groene waterstof leveren aan het tankstation en dit ook exploiteren. TNO gaat het project volgen. De verkregen inzichten wil het gebruiken bij de verdere ontwikkeling en toepassing van waterstof in het wegtransport.

“De verstrekte subsidie bevestigt onze lokale inzet en biedt een nog groter momentum om vooruitgang te boeken. Onze technologie wordt al in meer dan 250 projecten over de hele wereld gebruikt. Daarnaast heeft Air Products een jarenlange expertise en ervaring op het gebied van waterstofproductie, apparatuur, logistiek en diensten”, verklaart Kurt Lefevere van Air Products. Boudewijn Siemons (Havenbedrijf Rotterdam): “Waterstof is voor het vrachtverkeer een schoon, goed toepasbaar alternatief voor diesel. Maar dan moeten er natuurlijk wel tankstations zijn. Ik ben verheugd dat Air Products hierin het voortouw neemt door volgend jaar het eerste Rotterdamse waterstoftankstation voor vrachtwagens in gebruik te nemen.”

Air Products will supply and operate the first green hydrogen filling station in Rotterdam. The station will focus on heavy road transport
Air Products is cooperating in the ‘Clean Hydrogen and Road Transport Project’ with TNO and Schenk Tanktransport. Partly thanks to a subsidy from the DKTI transport scheme (Demonstration scheme for climate technologies and innovations in transport) of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, in 2023 a public hydrogen filling station is going to be built. The Port of Rotterdam Authority is also involved in the project.
Early adaptors
Three emission-free trucks from Air Products and Schenk will initially be customers of the filling station. In addition, early adopters are being targeted in the Rotterdam port area. Air Products will supply the green hydrogen to the filling station and also operate it. TNO will follow the project. It wants to use the insights obtained for the further development and application of hydrogen in road transport.
